Well after nine days on the road, staying in different motels almost every night, We are still best friends. We finished our trip last Weds. and returned our BMW GS motorcycles to the local BMW dealer, had a wonderful italian dinner and sat back to reflect. Best hotel?Best meal? Best riding? On and ON. I think the conclusion was that it was a wonderful trip, well organized, fantastic weather ( only one day os rain) and just what the "doctor" ordered. And, father and son are still the best of friends!!
Here are some pictures we managed to take along the way. Our intention was to try and do some sort of daily update, but internet reception was sketchy at best so rather than bore everyone with all the details, here are a few quick comments.
Our bikes were perfect. We both had new BMW GS 1200 's. They were great both on the pavement and on the few dirt roads we were able to find. Mike Bender of Adventure Motorcycles in Missoula, Mt. supplied them and also organized our route.
As you can see, there was not alot of traffic to deal with on this day.
One of the prettiest and remote areas was Wells Grey National Park.The waterfalls were magnificant and the riding had lots of curves with very little traffic. Each of us had our own room in these small ranch cabins.

On many mornings, we would get going and stop after an hour or so for coffee and muffins.

On our way to Lake Louise, we past through the Columbia Glacier area.
The Fairmont at Lake Louise is the place to stay. Our room faced the lake and had one of the most spectacular views in North America.

Sunset at Lake Louise We were able to do about an 8 mile hike on our day off.
After Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff, we headed out into farm country on our way to Waterton Park and Glacier National Park
The lake at Waterton Park was another beautiful glacier lake.

All in all, we did 1905 miles, stayed in 8 hotels, had only one day of rain, and,
said " thank you" everyday!!!
